Dull and tired: 4 things that negatively affect our skin

Dull and tired: 4 things that negatively affect our skin

If you want to have beautiful skin even at the age of 70 (yes, it is possible!), you should start taking care of it when you are young. And we're not just talking about using expensive creams and salon procedures. We need an integrated approach! Which you will now find out.

Dull and tired: 4 things that negatively affect our skin
ERROR # 1. Poor quality sleep

During the day, our skin is in active protection mode, but when we sleep, it goes into recovery and renewal mode. The night is an effective time for the skin: during this period, the regeneration and renewal process takes place. If you sleep too little or too irregularly, your tired complexion will pay off. In particular, you will begin to develop puffy dark circles under your eyes, dull skin and even wrinkles.

Night is the best time to intensify your skin care routine because your skin is not negatively affected by sunlight, pollution or stress during this time. In addition, during this time, skin care products are much more effective than during the day.

Cosmetologists recommend cleansing your face thoroughly before going to bed. Even if you don't use makeup, your pores are clogged with dust and dirt, so they need a good wash. And never (ever!) go to bed without a moisturizer, because moisture evaporates from the surface of your skin overnight, so you may feel tight in the morning.

ERROR # 2. Stress

If you are stressed, so is your skin. If you regularly ride an emotional roller coaster, your skin will pay you back. Therefore, don't be surprised if, after a series of adversities, rashes and irritations on your face start to appear, we are already silent on wrinkles.

Psychologists warn that negative lifestyle factors are not always reflected in the best way on the face. The fact is that stress causes an increase in the level of the hormone cortisol, as a result of which the glands that secrete sebum fail. This leads to the formation of clogged pores and acne.

If you are having trouble getting back on track and overcoming stress, try to stick to at least some rules that will improve the condition of your skin. First of all, eat healthy foods. Second, get enough sleep at night. Third, take care of your face.

ERROR # 3. Poor hydration

Facts are facts: when your skin is dry, it looks dull. However, to avoid this, there is absolutely no need to regularly coat it with oily creams. Their heavy texture only makes it worse. In particular, the skin cannot breathe, pores become clogged and the appearance of the face worsens: dryness and irritation add to the dullness.

Add more moisture to your skincare regimen. This applies to both external and internal use. Drink plenty of clean water (nutritionists recommend at least six to eight glasses a day) and use products that contain "water-friendly" ingredients. These include glycerin and niacinamide.

If that's not enough, use moisturizing masks and serums. If they help to soften the skin and make it softer on the outside, then they will nourish the skin from the inside because of the high nutrient content. However, remember to consider your skin type when grooming: the drier your skin is, the more often you need to moisturize it.

ERROR# 4. Wrong sun protection

Remember one simple rule. Memorise it as you did at school and always follow it. Under no circumstances go outside without applying sunscreen to your face. Even in winter, even in the rain, even on cloudy days, your skin must be protected from the sun's rays at all times!

Otherwise, over time, you will become a leopard woman, i.e. the owner of age spots. Someone drinks them at the age of 30, someone - for the half-century birthday, but this will be taken into account by everyone, if you don't protect your face from ultraviolet rays. The fact is that the melanin produced by our skin protects it from the sun, so if it does this constantly, we will have an increase in pigment over time that will never disappear again.

This is why cosmetologists recommend applying a moisturising cream with a sun protection factor every morning. The higher the SPF, the better. That said, look for formulations containing antioxidants to fight free radicals (troublesome molecules that cause a cascade of problems in the skin - from increased pigment to DNA damage). Vitamins C, E and niacinamide are ideal.
