Hair loss in women: the best effective remedies and treatments

February 13, 2024 0 Comments

Hair loss or alopecia can be difficult for women who suffer from it. Experts give us the best treatments, remedies, and stuff to keep healthy and silky hair. They also explain the main causes of hair loss in women.

Hair loss in women the best effective remedies and treatments

Hair transplant or hair transplant: effective treatment to counter female alopecia

Capillary transplantation is a technique that aims to take hair and re-implant it in a more clear area. The hair transplants succeed in women who have lost their hair. "They are particularly effective," says Dr. Wexler.

The surgeons previously transplanted whole scroll strips, but the individual transplanting of hair follicles from the back of the scalp gives better results. Because the back of the head is more resistant to hair loss, there is generally more hair. "It is tedious and expensive, but this approach represents the possibility of good results in women," said Dr. Wexler. Follicular transplants are carried out by qualified surgeons in hair transplant; Some are dermatologists.

Try the minoxidil

The first treatment option is a minoxidil. It is a liquid to apply on the scalp that slows down the loss, or even accelerates the regrowth of a part of the hair and which is sometimes effective in excavation. There are topical or oral remedies, based on plants, for men and women. They contain natural extracts of fenugreek or dwarf palm seeds, but there is no certainty as to their effectiveness.

"Minoxidil is a vasodilator medicine which decreases blood pressure and which can also slow down hair loss and even promote regrowth," explains Nick Dimakos. Doctor Robert Jones, who recommended this treatment to many of his patients, argues that it is effective in most cases. But before considering taking minoxidil, you must consult a doctor.

Prescription drugs to counter hair loss

If the diagnosis is excavation, it is usually treated with corticosteroid creams or injections in the scalp, more effective if you do it early. Several drugs with hormonal effects (contraceptive pill) help prevent female alopecia since this hair loss is linked to testosterone, or oral contraceptives block testosterone. However these oral drugs have an increased risk of side effects compared to topical treatments. Discuss it with your doctor.

Topic steroids can be advised for alopecia type hair falls and other cases of autoimmune origin, but these treatments will not work for genetic alopecies. In the case of chronic telogen effluvium, alopecia is usually in the short term, sometimes accompanied by exacerbations, Dr. Durosier tells us. "We can attend a temporary improvement thanks to a short treatment for topical steroids," he said.

Plasma treatment rich in platelets (PRP)

Plasma treatment rich in platelets (PRP) has a different approach. It stimulates regrowth rather than fighting alopecia. "In this treatment, we use the patient's own blood and her growth factors to stimulate hair growth," said Dr Donovan. The blood is removed and centrifuged to isolate the plasma which is reinjected into the scalp to stimulate the regrowth.

Lasel treatment with low intensity

Among other non -surgical treatments, the laser treatment is retained at low intensity. The laser is used to stimulate blood supply to the scalp and cause regrowth from the hair follicles.

Anti-Androgen pills or hormone blockers, or even oral contraceptives, can help slow down or even stop alopecia. All these treatments block testosterone which can cause hair loss in some women whose hair is sensitive to androgens.

Make up your scalp

Products such as Surethik Hair Building Fibers give the impression of well-stocked hair. It makes it possible to make up the areas affected by alopecia. "These are real hair to sprinkle on the head and get attached to the scalp," says Nick Dimakos.

Extensions and wigs

"From now on, the hits look natural, sometimes more than your hair," said Dre Wexler. The hair extensions are lighter than the hits. In addition, they represent a good option if you still have enough hair. Women can also supplement with missing hair with thickening hair fiber powder. This powder is available in certain pharmacies, in hairdressing salons and online. Sprinkle the fibers on your scalp and they should stay in place until the next shampoo.

Scalp tattoo

The scalp tattoo can be a more durable solution. Disadvantages? Yes, it has risks, such as infection. In addition, the color of the tattoo changes over time.

Future treatments to better fight and control hair loss

We are doing new research on prostaglandins, fat molecules that act as messengers. Although some prostaglandins are known to promote hair regrowth, others can inhibit it. This research could lead to new topical treatments that would restore hair regrowth.

How to better prevent and control hair loss in women

There are also preventive measures to brake alopecia. Doctor Nick Dimakos recommends consulting his doctor to check first if there is a thyroid imbalance. A rapid diagnosis makes it possible to better prevent and control hair loss.

Add volume

And what to do while waiting to find a lasting solution? Use products increasing the volume of your hair. “Volum bearing shampoos can temporarily increase the caliber of the hair. This improves the general look of hair in women, "said dermatologist Jeff Donovan. Apply these easy things to give volume to your hair.

Capillary densification serum

Apply this serum every evening to rebalance the hair cycle. You will wake up the follicles at rest so that more hair is in their growth stage.

Night care for hair

Do you use night creams to regenerate and soothe your face skin during your sleep? Try the night mask for hair that will provide the scalp with a comparable treatment. Its antioxidant formula reduces damage caused to hair by free radicals. In addition, it creates an environment conducive to hair growth.

Régenerator Antichute Regenerator

Use a regenerative treatment that works thanks to the adenosine triphosphate molecule. This molecule is recognized to triple the duration of the life cycle of the hair. It improves the rooting of the hair and the survival of hair bulbs: it therefore decreases the risk of falling.

To avoid

Women with alopecia should avoid the use of gels, dyes and hair extensions. Vitamin B12 and iron supplements are also to be avoided. Chests and braids can also speed up hair loss. It is therefore preferable to leave these hairstyles aside, mentions Robert Jones. According to him, extensions weaken the scalp and can cause hair loss.

Hair loss in women: when should we worry about it?

The Canadian Dermatology Association (ACD) estimates that we lose around 100 of our 100,000 hair every day while specifying that it is a completely normal action and that most of them grow back. It is that our follicles experience continuous cycles of growth, rest, and elimination.

What can become worrying is the appearance of relaxed plates or the expansion of your line. "It is estimated that 30% of women over 40 and 45% of menopausal women suffer from alopecia," said Dr. Vincent Durosier, medical director of Ducray dermatological laboratories in Toulouse, France. Our hair grows about 3 cm per month. But Dr. Durosier specifies that this is not a continuous process, which means that the 100,000 hair follicles that we have spoken do not grow at the same rate. Thus, each hair on our head will stay there for three to six years before falling. Discover lower the main causes that can explain hair loss in women.

Main causes of hair loss in women: female and menopause alopecia

With age, some women lose more hair than normal. The most common reason after menopause is female alopecia. "Female" is a key word here, because this baldness differs from that of men. While men see their forehead, in women in women, is lightened as a clarification of the summit of the skull or sides or a global slimming that reveals the scalp.

According to Doctor Robert Jones of the hair transplant center in Oakville Ontario, hair loss (or alopecia) in women is largely attributable to genetics. He estimates that 80 to 90 percent of bald cases are linked to family history. This situation can be caused by a thyroid disruption, a hormonal imbalance,, and side effects following a drug taking such as antidepressants.

Stress and a bad lifestyle

Nick Dimakos, founder of Surethik International, argues that stress also represents a risk factor. Take a look at your lifestyle: having a balanced diet, learning to manage stress, and doing good sleep nights can be everything you need to stop hair loss.

Use these stress management techniques to keep your calm.

Iron, zinc, and silicon deficiencies

Hair loss associated with food deficiencies can often be controlled by improving your general well-being. A 2012 clinical study demonstrated that Viviscal, a nutritional supplement based on sea protein, stimulates hair growth (without side effects) in women with temporary hair loss.

"When the body undergoes stress or is deficient, it sees your hair as non-eessential, then it ceases to feed the hair follicles to support the vital organs," said Mark Holland, CEO of Viviscal in North America. Iron deficiencies can also lead to refining the hair. A healthy diet therefore has all its importance. "People defined in zinc or iron may be victims of severe hair loss," he said. A normal person can lose from 50 to 100 hair per day while the one who suffers from an iron or zinc deficiency will have a significantly superior loss. Just like zinc, silicon is essential.

"Among the good food sources of silicon, let us mention cucumber, mango, green leafy vegetables, beans, celery, strawberries, and asparagus," said Jenn Pike, holistic nutritionist of Keswick (Ontario).

Also favor zinc-rich foods: "Pumpkin seeds, fresh oysters, Brazil nuts, organic eggs and pacan," she adds.

Excavation

Hair handles fall for no reason. "We believe that it could be an immune problem, but it is a complicated illness and the exact cause is not known," notes Dre Denise Wexler, dermatologist of London, Ontario, and former president of the Association of Canadian Dermatology. In the excision, the body rejects the hair like invaders, although it can grow back without treatment in the year.

Telogen effluvium

A large number of hair is resting and dying. This pathology is triggered by an event that taxes the body, such as high fever or extreme weight loss. You may not note that a large part of your hair has stopped growing, but there is obvious hair loss in the following weeks or months. "It's common among women who gave birth," said Dre Wexler. When you notice the loss, healthy hair has already started to grow.

Lightning regimes

A sudden fall in calories can cause hair loss in small wicks at the same time.

Find out about the harmful effects of the ketogenic diet.

Hairstyle

Also known under the term traction alopecia, hair loss is often the consequence of braids or tight horse tails.

Hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism

A hormonal disruption caused by a hypo or hyperactive thyroid gland can cause hair loss over the whole head. However the hair should repel after the treatment of the thyroid disorder.

Be on the lookout for these signs of a thyroid problem.

Pregnancy

Hair loss can be caused by hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy or after delivery. Instead of presenting stretch areas of the head or enlargement of the line, you could lose whole strands of hair.

Health problems and drugs

Hair loss in women can also be a sign of an autoimmune affection, such as lupus or psoriasis. Some drugs, skin infections and even lack of sleep contribute to hair loss. This is why it is important to consult a health professional who will assess unexplained hair loss, especially if you notice systemic symptoms, such as weight change or intestinal problems. Your doctor will make a "traction test" to see how easily hair is falling, will examine your scalp, will take a biopsy of your hair or scalp and check your blood sugar.

If you are worried about an unusual fall in your hair, talk to your doctor. The treatment of an underlying disease or a deficiency may be enough to restore your hair its old glory. If you are already taking medication for chronic disease, mention hair loss to your pharmacist or doctor. The latter can recognize the drug causing excessive hair.

What makes my skin dull?

February 02, 2024 0 Comments

A dull or blurred complexion constitutes a common reason for consultation on morphological and anti-aging medicine: age, lifestyle, or tobacco are all factors that make our face-off, the complexion tired and soulless. For many, the problem exceeds the simple aesthetic appearance of dull skin or a gray complexion. Morphological and anti-aging medicine offers different solutions to restore all its radiance to a face, making it radiant, bright, and rejuvenated.

What makes my skin dull

What is a dull complexion?

Dull skin is characterized by a gray complexion, which no longer returns light.

Three mechanisms contribute to this light modification:

  • A loss of hydration, which makes the skin mechanically closer to the underlying bone structures or the bluish structures of the vessels;
  • An irregularity of structure, which makes light no longer reflected in a homogeneous manner;
  • A pigmentation that dissenters the complexion, whether in depth (melanin of photoading) or superficial (dirt or toxins encrusted on the superficial layers of the epidermis).

All these factors help give a dull and tired complexion, reflecting an apparent state of weariness, illness, and lack of dynamism, when this is not necessarily true.

What makes my skin dull?

Many causes can cause dull and gray complexion, often associated.

  • Intrinsic factors: the causes of a dull complexion

Anything that will harm a good skin metabolism can induce dull skin: stress, fatigue, menopause, imperfect diet, lifestyle, vascular disorders with venous stasis, edema ...

The skin is also a reflection of our "interior".

Different skin imperfections can promote or aggravate a dull complexion: oily skin with black dots and irregularities of the skin texture; discreet redness which modifies the bright reflection; Skin aging with photo vices and loss of volume; poor skin hydration which decreases good tissue oxygenation ...

  • Extrinsic factor: the cause of a dull complexion

Pollution leads to an accumulation of fine particles which are attached to the superficial layers of the epidermis. But also tobacco, alcohol, lifestyle, sedentary lifestyle ...

How to improve the radiance and hydration of your skin?

As the causes of the dull complexion are multiple, the doctor will first try to understand the reasons, while detecting the micro-imperfections of your face which can be at the origin.

This is always a good diagnosis that must decide on the right treatment: peeling, radiofrequency, hifu, mesolift, micro-dermabrasion, perfect skin ... There are protocols that can also associate several techniques to treat all causes.

These treatments can focus on the complexion of the face, neck, neckline, and hands, namely the areas most exposed to the sun and external aggressions.

Wanting to treat a dull and gray complexion without having clearly identified the mechanism responsible for it is doomed to failure. Small focus on two integrated techniques, for example, in the Perkect’skin protocol: dermabrasion and dermal infusion.

What is dermabrasion?

It is a form of mechanical and chemical superficial peel, allowing the exfoliation of the superficial epidermal layers loaded with impurities and dead cells.

Perfect skin uses, for example, an efficient scrub with salicylic acid with the help of a small diamond strawberry. It eliminates a good part of the dead cells that clutter our skin (especially the surface of the epidermis) and which we lose weakly every day.

It is a question of making the skin more radiant, and more flexible and of softening its grain by making it more homogeneous.

On the other hand, the sebum will flow better and limit the acne of retention (blackheads and microchysts, with less inflammation and redness).

What is dermal infusion?

Close to mesotherapy, dermal infusion aims to bring a set of active ingredients directly to their place of action the dermis. A dermal infusion makes it possible to hydrate the skin, gradually treat pigment spots with kojic acid, and prevent oxidative phenomena with antioxidants.

The attack protocol requires some close sessions, then a session every month or every two months in an interview.

The spectacular result of Perfectskin on the dull and blurred complexion made us completely abandon the superficial peels. You can summarize its action as that of a superficial peel and mesotherapy. The suites are almost zero. You can immediately resume your personal or professional activities!

This technique can also be combined with other treatments such as injections for example, or before making HIFU (focused ultrasound). Having good skin hydration optimizes the results.

Dermatological cleaning of the skin combines the perfect skin with the destage of microsite and black dots and the effects of the LED lamp.

Perfectskin will therefore give back all its radiance to your face, making it bright and radiant. This treatment will allow a

WHAT IS COENZYME Q10?

October 09, 2022 0 Comments

WHAT IS Q10? WHAT ARE ITS BENEFITS ON THE SKIN?

Coenzyme Q10 is naturally present in all the cells of our body. Essential for the production of energy, it is co-responsible for the basic functions of the skin such as the processes of regeneration, growth, and repair.

WHAT IS COENZYME Q10? HOW IT WORKS?

Coenzyme Q10 (also called ubiquinone) is a substance related to vitamins. It is naturally present in every cell of our body and makes a vital contribution to it. It is essential for the production of energy to perform the basic functions of the skin such as its regeneration and repair.

Since the skin is the outermost layer of the body, it is constantly exposed to various environmental factors, including oxidative stress caused by the UV rays of the sun. Additionally, internal processes can cause the release of free radicals that further damage our cells and accelerate the signs of aging.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF COENZYME Q10?

What is the role of coenzyme Q10? Why is it so effective in skincare routines? Q10 has a dual role: It provides energy and protects cells as an antioxidant.

- Energy production: Q10 is particularly necessary for the production of cellular energy within the mitochondria, the "electric power stations" of our cells. It can thus help strengthen the heart, muscles, and nerves.

- Defense function: As an antioxidant, Q10 helps neutralize free radicals inside and outside cells. Simply put, free radicals are reactive molecules that occur naturally in the body. UV rays, stress, and environmental toxins can, in particular, increase the number of free radicals. If their concentration is too high, free radicals lead to oxidative stress. This can damage cells, promote inflammation and thus accelerate skin aging. That's why Q10 is so essential for smooth, healthy-looking skin.

WHAT IS COENZYME Q10 FOR?

THE BENEFITS OF COENZYME Q10:

What is Q10 used for? Here are the top 6 skin benefits of 100% Skin-Identical Q10:

- It gives the skin the energy it needs to repair and regenerate naturally.

One of the main benefits of Q10 is that it provides your skin cells with the essential energy they need to repair and regenerate, allowing them to perform their basic functions better.

- More energized skin, a more radiant complexion

Skins that are said to be young and toned usually contain high levels of Q10. Indeed, thanks to the energy that Q10 provides to the skin, it can repair and regenerate more quickly to stay young and toned. On the other hand, as skin ages, its natural levels of Q10 begin to decline, which means it doesn't repair and regenerate as quickly, and can therefore look dull and tired. That's why, as you age, adding Q10-containing products to your skincare routine can help you maintain a glowing complexion.

- Coenzyme Q10 may help reduce sun damage

Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant that helps the skin defend itself against the damaging effects of sun exposure, caused by free radicals. Reducing sun damage also helps prevent sun-induced signs of aging.

- Q10 supports collagen production

Collagen constitutes almost 80% of the dry weight of our skin (all of the components of the skin excluding water) and almost a third of all the proteins in our body. Coenzyme Q10 helps support collagen production, which can help improve cell regeneration, protect delicate organs, strengthen bones, tendons, and joints, and maintain skin elasticity

- Q10 helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Thanks to all the energy that coenzyme Q10 brings to the skin and its contribution to the production of collagen, it is a very effective ingredient in creams that help fight the signs of skin aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines.

- Q10 helps promote an even skin tone

Coenzyme Q10 can help with hyperpigmentation and dark spots caused by excess melanin production. Indeed, some studies have shown that coenzyme Q10 can inhibit tyrosinase, an enzyme that promotes melanin production.

COENZYME Q10 AND AGING

Our body can produce Q10 on its own, which most vitamins cannot. From an early age, the skin is sufficiently provided with it. We absorb it through food: nuts, meat, green vegetables, and cold-pressed vegetable oils, for example, are rich in coenzyme Q10. As we age, the levels of natural coenzyme Q10 in our skin decrease. Being an essential and crucial antioxidant in the process of energy production, a reduction in Q10 makes the skin more vulnerable to stress and damage.

That's why incorporating Q10-containing products into your skincare routine can help you maintain younger-looking skin for longer.

Skincare formulas with Q10 for longer-looking skin:

  • - With age, the defense functions of the skin, decrease, and it becomes more sensitive to oxidative stress. This is one of the causes of the appearance of the first lines and wrinkles. For radiant, younger-looking skin, try our NIVEA Q10 Energy Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream SPF 15, which smoothes signs of fatigue and reduces dullness.
  • - Anti-aging skincare formulas containing Q10 can support the skin's natural defense mechanisms and the energy metabolism of skin cells. Applied as a cream, serum, or body lotion, the antioxidant can penetrate the upper layers of the skin. From there, it can help capture free radicals and render them harmless, helping to fight the first signs of aging.

Q10 FOR THE SKIN: BEIERSDORF LEADER IN RESEARCH

Beiersdorf researchers were the first to research the use of Q10 in skincare routines. To date, Q10 products are used worldwide.

Q10 IN SKIN CARE: A BRIEF HISTORY OF Q10 AND ITS USE IN NIVEA CARE

As early as the 1990s, the research team at NIVEA looked into the mode of action of Q10. Scientists have extensively studied the role of Coenzyme Q10 on human skin and as early as 1998 incorporated it into skin care products.

The main milestones in the development of the Q10

1957: American researcher Frederick L. Crane discovers the coenzyme.
1978: British chemist Peter Dennis Mitchell receives the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He had discovered how Q10 works in cells.
The 1990s: Beiersdorf researchers were among the first to study the effects of Q10 on the skin and since 1998 they have been betting on this Anti-Aging activity by successfully integrating it into NIVEA skincare products.
Today: Coenzyme Q10 is one of the main anti-aging active ingredients. It is found in particular in body milk, face creams, serums, and in combination with other antioxidants such as vitamin C.

Q10 FOR THE FACE: HOW TO INTEGRATE COENZYME Q10 INTO YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE

*In-vitro tested

Here are some simple tips for your skin to benefit from the benefits of coenzyme Q10.

Tips for using Q10 in your skincare routine:

- Make sure your skin is clean and dry before application.
- Always apply a serum before your moisturizer so that its formula can penetrate deep into the epidermis and exert its effect.
- Gently massage the serum into your skin, using your fingertips to massage it all over your face.
- Combine it with a moisturizer with Q10 to intensify the anti-wrinkle effects.

IN WHICH NIVEA PRODUCTS IS COENZYME Q10 FOUND?

Q10 has been used repeatedly as an ingredient in NIVEA Anti-Age skincare since 1998. Since then, the coenzyme has been a major component of many NIVEA skincare formulas.

1. Q10 FACIAL TREATMENTS

The skin of the face is particularly delicate and is exposed daily to environmental influences. Prepare it with a NIVEA Q10 day cream. Plus, rich creams promote skin regeneration overnight and help fight fine lines and wrinkles.

2. SERUM AND EYE CONTOUR

Anti-wrinkle serums are adapted to the needs of mature skin. They provide hydration and, thanks to the Q10 formula, can help neutralize free radicals. Special serums are recommended for delicate eye areas to help reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles. Try our NIVEA Q10 Power Anti-Wrinkle Pearl Serum for a visible reduction in the appearance of wrinkles around the eyes

3. SUNSCREEN

80% of premature skin aging is due to the effects of UV rays. Sun protection is therefore particularly important to prevent light-induced skin aging and pigment spots. A facial sunscreen containing Q10 is ideal for mature skin.

4. ANTI-AGING HAND CREAM

The signs of time usually show up very early on the hands as their care is often neglected. Hand cream with Q10 care formula and UV filters helps prevent sun-related age spots and early wrinkles.

5. Q10 BODY CARE PRODUCTS

With age, the skin of the whole body loses its firmness and elasticity. Adapt your care with coordinated anti-aging products. Our NIVEA Q10 series also includes various body milk.

These signs that indicate that your skin is aging

September 28, 2022 0 Comments

When it comes to skin aging, some signs are unmistakable! Dehydration, dull complexion, sagging… Focus on the signals not to ignore to keep skin young for as long as possible.

A loss of hydration

The finding

The skin is less comfortable than before, and fine lines appear on the face, especially on the forehead and the outer corner of the eye.

The cause

The weakened hydrolipidic film poorly retains the water contained in the skin. This barrier deteriorates under the effect of the many external aggressions that stalk the skin on a daily basis: the sun, climatic variations, pollution, tobacco, junk food, or even stress. It can also come from an unsuitable, too irritating beauty routine.

What we can do

Choose a cream adapted to your skin type, with active ingredients that moisturize (hyaluronic acid) and stop free radicals (antioxidants such as vitamins C, E, and A). Once you've got your hands on the right treatment, apply it daily to perfectly clean your skin. We also begin to systematically use a night cream after evening make-up removal to help the skin regenerate properly. Without forgetting to adopt a healthy lifestyle, which gives pride of place to balanced dishes and sports.

Partnership: Discover the Lancôme Génifique range

The Lancôme brand, a pioneer in anti-aging research, is innovating with a new formula for its iconic Advanced Génifique serum. It reactivates all the signs of youth in the face, from the elasticity of the skin to its radiance. A unique scientific breakthrough at the service of your skin!

A loss of radiance

The finding

The skin looks gray, it recovers less well after a restless night.

The cause

This is usually due to a lack of stimulation. Lack of energy skin is skin that does not produce enough lipids, that struggles to eliminate dead cells and that cannot regenerate properly: the complexion is, therefore, less even, and it has trouble regaining its radiance. Natural.

What we can do

Shake your skin to bring up the glow! A good habit to adopt is to systematically massage your face when you apply your cream. On the one hand, to better penetrate the active ingredients and on the other hand, to boost blood and lymphatic circulation. Smoothing, pinching, circular movements… All these gestures increase the blood flow which provides the skin with all the nutrients and oxygen it needs to radiate on a daily basis.

We also think of ridding the epidermis of all the impurities and dead cells that suffocate and dull it. To do this, take the time to thoroughly remove makeup from your skin each evening and do a gentle exfoliation or peeling with AHAs once a week.

As for active ingredients to favor: we put everything on vitamin C, the anti-dullness active ingredient par excellence!

A loss of elasticity

The observation

The skin seems less firm and less toned, and the cheekbones relax slowly but surely.

The cause

Around the age of 40, cell renewal runs out of steam. The fibroblasts responsible for producing collagen and elastin (two proteins that guarantee the firmness of the skin) show a drop in activity. Results ? The beautiful volumes of the face are blurred.

What we can do

Multiply actions. After a certain age, hydration alone is no longer enough. It is also necessary to stimulate and repair the skin by focusing on stronger active ingredients such as retinol. Massages and facial gymnastics exercises can also give a real boost. Easy to make at home, they help tone and shape the muscles, for naturally plumper skin.

How to care for your skin after the summer?

September 04, 2022 0 Comments

Summer, is this beautiful season synonymous with long walks on the fine sandy beaches, swimming, and parties.

But above all, a period of time to fully enjoy the sun and a sublime tan. Unfortunately, that already seems a long way off. Indeed, the autumn wind blows in the air and announces the end of the beautiful days. And the pretty tanned complexion that you wear with pride gradually loses its radiance. Worse, your skin begins to peel. But don't worry, it's normal. Your skin has been weakened by sunburn, cold, wind, sand, sea and swimming pool chlorine, and many other factors. This is why it is important to take care of it and prepare it before the onset of the cold seasons. Here are some tips for having beautiful skin after the summer.

Remove dead cells with a scrub

To fight against external aggressions, our skin accumulates cells on its surface. This layer of dead cells tends to trap dirt and impurities that clog pores. Apart from the fact that it peels and gives your epidermis an unsightly appearance, this thin film also prevents the skin from fulfilling its function as a protective barrier. To overcome this, a scrub is needed. The latter removes dead skin and also removes impurities. In addition, this process promotes the regeneration of new epidermal cells. However, beware of abuse! Do not exfoliate more than twice a week, to reduce the risk of irritation. Thus, if you have fragile skin, one application per week will suffice.

Should you moisturize your skin?

After the holidays, the skin tends to dry out, which causes irritation and itching. In order to avoid this inconvenience, it is important to bring him a good dose of hydration. In this sense, the Cica Daily Repair Serum of the Uriage Bariederm brand is indicated. This treatment is ideal for sensitive and weakened skin, as it provides intense hydration. Its formula is composed of ingredients of 97% natural origin, including thermal water, known for its soothing properties. In short, a real gem! In addition, it is composed of dipeptide which limits the aging of the skin. This serum is applied day and night, just before the cream, on clean, dry skin.

What restorative treatment to use?

When the epidermis is exposed to pollution, cold, harmful UV rays, and stress. In fact, its protective function tends to weaken. Restorative care is therefore essential before the onset of winter, to restore the skin barrier. For this, the La Roche-Posay laboratory offers La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Spray B5 Repair. This is a repairing spray enriched in particular with Centella. It is soothing, anti-itch, and suitable for adults and children. A godsend for weakened skin, this concentrated treatment accelerates epidermal repair. Moreover, it is specially designed to calm the irritations and overheating of the largest organ of our body.

Here is THE best sport to fight cellulite and smooth the skin!

August 21, 2022 0 Comments

To fight against cellulite and make cellulite disappear, this physical activity is the most effective of all!

When it comes to cellulite, no one is spared. Regardless of age, sex, build... Everyone can have orange peel skin! Recognizable by the dimpling that characterizes it and gives the skin an irregular appearance, the appearance of cellulite is caused by the local accumulation of fat.

All that is most natural, cellulite should not be a source of complexes! However, if you want to get rid of it, there are different techniques.

SWIMMING, THE BEST ANTI-CELLULITE ALLY

Self-massage techniques, products with very specific active ingredients, targeted exercises… Everyone has their own way of fighting cellulite! But do you know that a particular sport is perfect to help you achieve this goal?

No need to make the suspense last longer: it's about swimming! Yes, if several sports want to be considerably effective in combating orange peel skin, swimming wins hands down!

In women, cellulite tends to become embedded very easily in the thighs and buttocks. This is the reason why, in general, any physical activity mobilizing the legs is effective in smoothing the skin.

WATER PRESSURE MALTREATS PAD

However, what makes all the difference with swimming is the pressure that the water exerts on the body during its practice! And to see lasting and visible effects, you don't need to be a swimming champion!

By mobilizing the muscles of the whole body (and especially those of the legs), swimming drains the tissues and reduces water retention... Main responsible for the appearance of cellulite!

Small bonus: to further maximize the smoothing effect of swimming, bet on flippers! At your feet, these will add difficulty to the exercise by creating resistance and at the same time reinforcing the massaging power of the water!

If you don't want to get wet, know that brisk walking and cycling are particularly effective when it comes to eliminating cellulite... The real secret lies above all in the fact of indulging in it regularly enough... To you to play!

WHICH SPORT TO CHOOSE TO FIGHT AGAINST CELLULITE?

There are three imperatives to have when choosing your anti-cellulite activity according to Lucile Woodward. Sports should be practiced:

  • - who build muscle. By building muscle, you create blood vessels all around the new muscles you build. "This blood microcirculation acts as a permanent internal drainage", explains the coach.
  • -who are cardio. It is important to practice a sport that expends energy on a regular basis. And this, for 40 minutes at a gentle and fairly long pace.

ANTI-CELLULITE SPORTS PROGRAM

To fight against cellulite through sport, our expert recommends muscle strengthening 2 to 3 times a week + cardio 1 to 2 times a week for a minimum of 40 minutes + stretching/yoga/Pilates which allow you to lengthen the muscles and do not take too much volume. Stretching shapes the silhouette.

THE BEST ANTI-CELLULITE SPORTS

A) WATER SPORTS

These are arguably the most effective (and enjoyable for people who love water).

ANTI-CELLULITE SPORT N°1: SURFING

When surfing, you stay in the water for a very long time at a moderately sustained pace (gentle cardio). Cellulite is massaged with water and waves permanently. In addition, it strengthens the abs and the legs.

ANTI-CELLULITE SPORT N°2: THE LONGE-CÔTE

Walking by the water (at chest height) is both massaging, muscular, and cardio. We try to hold 1 hour. Easy, if you have a girlfriend to talk to.

ANTI-CELLULITE SPORT N°3: AQUACYCLING (OR AQUABIKE)

Water biking is super efficient. We combine massage thanks to water, weight training, and cardio thanks to pedaling. Most? This activity relieves heavy legs.

ANTI-CELLULITE SPORT N°4: AQUAJUMPING

We jump on a trampoline submerged in water. A draining activity that muscles the thighs, buttocks, and calves. The advantage? There is the very little impact so you avoid back pain.

ANTI-CELLULITE SPORT N°5: SWIMMING

Very accessible and inexpensive, swimming combines bodybuilding and cardio. It is all the more effective against cellulite if you vary the strokes (crawl, breaststroke, etc.) and strokes (without fins, with fins).

ANTI-CELLULITE SPORT N°6: AQUAGYM

Fans of dance, Zumba, and in short, fun sports will love aquagym. We have fun with a "doggie" style gym choreo in the water to build more muscle and improve your cardio.

B) URBAN SPORTS

For city dwellers who are reluctant to go to the swimming pool, don't panic, other anti-cellulite sports are available. Here are the most effective sports to fight stubborn cellulite.

ANTI-CELLULITE SPORT N°7: Brisk walking

If you do at least 45 minutes, brisk walking can tap into fat stores. We do not necessarily have the impression of working as much as with other sports and yet, it is a formidable activity to refine the legs. Most? The joints are less tired than running.

ANTI-CELLULITE SPORT N°8: CYCLING

Dynamo, RPM… There are many trendy activities that consist of indoor cycling. And also very practical for eliminating cellulite! Coach's advice? You pedal above your saddle otherwise you risk only building muscle in the front of your thighs.

ANTI-CELLULITE SPORT N°9: RUNNING

Running reduces the orange peel appearance by toning the skin. The "vibrations" that occur when running make it easier to eliminate cellulite.

ANTI-CELLULITE SPORT N°10: NORDIC WALKING

A more original alternative to brisk walking, Nordic walking is practiced with sticks and often in groups. With a technique similar to that of cross-country skiing, you considerably improve your breath and burn fat.

The advice of the coach: “it is better not to practice a sport thoroughly for 20-30 minutes at the risk of being hungry when you go out and rushing on high-calorie dishes. It is better to do a gentle activity over a long period of time and on a regular basis”.

TOP 5 COLLAGEN TREATMENTS TO FIGHT AGAINST SKIN AGING

August 06, 2022 0 Comments

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, it is naturally synthesized by the body and represents the main element of the connective tissues: skin, vessels, cartilages, tendons, ligaments, muscles, intestine... Everywhere where resistance is needed. Indeed, collagen fibers allow resist the tension forces in the tissues.

collagen,anti-aging,wrinkles,fine lines,crows feet,protein,hydrolyzed collagen,collagen peptides,verisol,gelita,maren locke,the budget dermatologist,vitamin c,hyaluronic acid,skin,skincare routine,hair,nails,hair loss,joint health,vital proteins,vital proteins professional,sparkle wellness,boost collagen,collagen treatments,collagen skincare,anti aging treatments,fraxel laser,clear and brilliant,morpheus8,rf micro needling

This is why collagen plays a major role in the elasticity and regeneration of the skin and tissues.

Benefits for the body

Collagen has an impact on the articular and digestive spheres.

It is a major element of the joints and ensures their cohesion and elasticity. With age, or in the case of intense physical activity, pains can appear. It is generally linked to a degradation of the cartilage (connective tissue rich in collagen). We speak of rheumatism or osteoarthritis.

Because of its virtues on the bone tissue, collagen also participates in reducing the appearance and progression of osteoporosis in menopausal women.

The collagen present in the intestinal connective tissue supports and strengthens the protective mucous membrane of the digestive tract. Its role is important because the breakdown of the intestinal barrier allows unwanted particles to enter the bloodstream. This is the permeable bowel syndrome, which will cause chronic inflammation.

Benefits for the skin

Collagen has multiple anti-aging benefits:

  • Helps fight dehydration due to its ability to retain water in the tissues.
  • Helps fight against skin slackening thanks to its ability to regenerate the epidermal tissues
  • Anti-oxidant and anti-radical action

Its production starts to decrease from the age of 25, and at 60, we have lost 60%. This phenomenon is aggravated by the effect of UV rays, tobacco, and air pollution. Without forgetting the role of food with glycation (fixation of sugars on the collagen protein) leads to a rigidification of this protein and thus a loss of elasticity.

The collagen fibers crack and become disorganized in the skin, which leads to the appearance of wrinkles and skin slackening. On the other hand, the lack of collagen in the skin causes an irregularity of the skin texture, the light is reflected less well, the skin loses its radiance and the complexion is less uniform.

Collagen and diet

There are few foods containing collagen. They are almost exclusively foods of animal origin. It is found in meat, especially in the gelatinous parts such as the feet, legs, tail, snout... Marrowbone, for example, is mostly composed of collagen and can be consumed in the form of broth to promote its extraction.

Collagen also exists in the marine environment: it is found in the skin, bones, and scales of fish.

Some foods rich in vitamins A, C, E, and zinc will also participate in the regeneration of the skin and boost collagen synthesis: salmon, green vegetables, avocado, garlic ...

According to a study published in July 2020 in the "Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology", to be effective on wrinkles and skin elasticity of women aged 45 to 60, it would be necessary to consume 10g of hydrolyzed collagen per day, and this for 4 to 8 weeks. However, to ingest this quantity of collagen, one would have to eat 140g of marrow bones/day or drink 1 liter/day of marrow bone broth. This is why supplementation is often recommended.

Collagen-based cures

Our anti-aging doctors recommend taking dietary supplements based on collagen peptides, which can be of marine or bovine origin.

Is there a difference between marine and bovine origin?

Marine collagen is obtained from the skin, bones, and scales of fish.

Bovine collagen comes from the bones and skin of animals (cows, buffalos, bison).

Collagen is a large protein that cannot be absorbed by the intestines. To be absorbed and reach the tissues to perform its functions, it must be hydrolyzed (i.e. Fragmented) into peptides, composed of amino acids. Only the products of this fragmentation, i.e. The amino acids, are absorbed. And these amino acids, whether they come from marine or bovine collagen, are similar.

What are the criteria for choosing a good collagen-based supplement?

  1. Hydrolysis is the 1st essential step to obtaining natural collagen peptides. When buying a supplement, it is important to check the hydrolysis method that has been used, which must be gentle. This is guaranteed by a patent (Naticol® or Verisol® type) which also guarantees the absence of heavy metals, solvent residues, and other contaminants.
  2. The molecular weight of peptides must be between 2000 and 6000 Daltons to be properly assimilated. The lower the molecular weight, the better the bioavailability of the peptides.
  3. European brand.

Choose your collagen-based supplement according to your needs

  • For a global action (nourish the skin, the cartilage, and the muscles), choose a hydrolyzed collagen, of marine or bovine origin.
  • For a complete anti-aging action on the skin, opt for a Nutri-cosmetic treatment combining collagen and hyaluronic acid, which will act on the skin's elasticity, firmness, and hydration.

Choosing the right collagen skin care product: 5 options

To give your skin every chance of maintaining its suppleness and elasticity, taking advantage of the benefits of collagen for the skin in the form of treatment is a solution to be favored. In order to make up for the lack of collagen suffered to the decrease in its production, several options can be considered. Focus on five collagen treatments to try.

1. Food supplements

It is possible to promote collagen production through diet. To do so, it is advisable to favor foods rich in minerals and vitamins (especially vitamin C). However, since it is not always easy to find the right ingredients to take advantage of the benefits of nutrients, turning to collagen-based food supplements is possible. These can be presented in different forms: capsules, capsules, tablets, sticks, etc.

The dietary supplement for the skin is most often taken in the form of a cure, the duration of which varies according to the brand and the concentration of the product.

2. Face creams

To reduce the signs of aging, a collagen-based cream is one of the easiest and least restrictive products to use. It can be used as a classic daytime anti-aging cream, but also exists in a nighttime version, for optimized effectiveness.

Directions for use: apply the collagen cream to the entire face, focusing on the areas most prone to wrinkles (especially around the lips and eyes).

3. Serums

Collagen serums allow you to benefit from all the anti-aging and moisturizing benefits of the protein in a concentrated version. This type of care is ideally used in addition to cream and fights against the loss of suppleness and elasticity thanks to a collagen-enriched formula. This type of care often combines several active ingredients, including hyaluronic acid, another substance specific to the treatment of signs of aging.

4. Masks

As a complement to daily facials, a collagen mask can be very effective in achieving the desired result: smooth, supple skin that exudes youth. There are several types of masks. They can be in the form of a balm or a gel and are applied to a perfectly cleansed face. To optimize the effectiveness of the mask, a light exfoliation of the face beforehand may be useful.

In practice, collagen hydrogel masks are the most practical to use, as their shape is already adapted to the face. Simply unfold them, position them correctly and leave them on for the recommended time.

5. Liquid formats

For an intensive collagen treatment, you can opt for ampoules. These are generally composed of highly concentrated marine collagen and are used in a three- to four-week cure, depending on the brand.

On the practical side, they are generally used in the evening and are applied to perfectly cleansed skin. The action simply consists of distributing the contents of the ampoule over the areas of the face (avoiding the eye contour), the neck, and the neckline.

Skin aging is inevitable, and no one can escape it. However, thanks to the many ways to take advantage of the benefits of collagen, prolonging the skin's youthfulness becomes almost a formality.

The three key points to remember about collagen skin care:

  • - Collagen is a protein that occurs naturally in the body. It is essential for the skin to remain healthy, but its production diminishes with time;
  • The best known and most widely used substitute collagen in skin care products is marine collagen. It is extracted from the proteins present in the skin of oily fish, and is the one that is closest to our natural collagen;
  • To take advantage of the benefits of collagen, there is a wide range of care products. To take advantage of the benefits of collagen, there is a wide range of treatments available, including food supplements specific to the skin. In terms of cosmetics, collagen is used in the composition of many products, such as day creams, serums, masks, or ampoules.

Profhilo injections, this new natural anti-aging technique that seduces more and more women

August 01, 2022 0 Comments

Profhilo injections have more and more followers in France. Different from Botox and hyaluronic acid, what is this 100% natural anti-aging technique?

If for a long time it was perceived as a taboo subject, today, women no longer hide the alterations they can make to their face or body. Hyaluronic acid and Botox injections have become more common to counter the signs of skin aging. Recently, we have been hearing more and more about Profhilo injections. These hybrid anti-aging injections are becoming more and more popular in France and are already widespread abroad, especially in the United States.

The Profhilo technique is different from hyaluronic acid and Botox injections. "Its hybrid character makes it a special product," said Dr. Caroline Pouget, founder of the Renécia dermo-aesthetic center. "Indeed, it has a hydrating and tensor effect, but it does not give volume".

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PROPHILO AND CLASSIC HYALURONIC ACID?

But what is really in a Profhilo syringe? "A highly purified hyaluronic acid on its own, composed of 2 different molecules (one high molecular weight and one low molecular weight)," detailed Dr. Caroline Pouget. "It is highly dosed compared to a classic acid. There is no added chemical for cross-linking or added lidocaine as an anesthetic found in syringes of classic acid." In short, a 100% natural product!

Profhilo injections are intended for patients who want a firming and moisturizing effect, without changing features. "This new technique is a way to treat the skin, redensify it to limit sagging, bring radiance and plump up," said the doctor. The results are indeed very natural. With, one does not only treat the face. It is also possible to carry out injections on the neck, the neckline, the arms, the hands, and even the stomach.

THE COURSE OF A PROFHILO INJECTION SESSION, STEP BY STEP

After a preliminary interview, the doctor receives you in his office. The session begins with a disinfection of the area to be injected. Then the product is injected into the deep dermis with a needle. "The practitioner will create small papules that will progressively spread in the tissues for a very natural result and without social eviction", specified Dr. Caroline Pouget. The result is immediate and lasts between 9 and 12 months.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

The contraindications are the same as for classic hyaluronic acid. Profhilo injections are not recommended if you have an auto-immune disease, an infection in the area receiving the product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

The opinion of our expert

"Appearance may seem like a futile, frivolous concern. As a specialist in face surgery, I have seen how many of my patients can suffer from it, whether it is a face mutilated as a result of an accident or simply the imprint of time. In addition, cosmetic surgery has been shown to reduce anxiety, and improve confidence or self-esteem. These psychological parameters have an influence on the secretion of stress hormones, which are known to promote the biological processes involved in aging. Be careful, academic criteria are not enough to define beauty. Studies in experimental psychology have significantly established that the human eye prefers slightly asymmetrical faces. In addition, a smiling and loving face will always be equivalent to many facelifts!'

HOW TO USE COCONUT OIL AS A SKINCARE PRODUCT?

July 03, 2022 0 Comments

The scent of coconut is reminiscent of the sun and holidays - and it pampers our hair thanks to its vitamin E-rich composition.

HOW TO USE COCONUT OIL AS A HAIR CARE PRODUCT?

Regular styling and blow-drying, UV radiation, and dry air from the heater damage the hair. Coconut oil, rich and nutritious, restores brittle and dull hair to its silky luster and smoothes the fragile tips again. Coconut oil is also recommended for irritated or sensitive scalps.

CARE THAT PENETRATES STRESSED HAIR AND WORKS DEEP DOWN

You can also make your own moisturizing masks from coconut oil. All you need is cold-pressed, unprocessed coconut oil, which you can find at well-stocked drugstores.

Coconut oil is firm at room temperature. It only melts when the temperature is between 23 and 26 degrees, which is when it comes into contact with the skin. This is why it quickly returns to its solid form, so beware when temperatures drop in the winter!

Conversely, coconut oil can also liquefy on hot summer days. However, you don't have to store it in the refrigerator. Simply store it in a cool, dark place, as high-quality coconut oil has a shelf life of two to three years at room temperature.

For a hair mask or poultice made with coconut oil, start by washing your hair as usual and drying it gently. Then massage the equivalent of the tip of a knife of coconut oil into your hair, starting at the scalp and working your way down to the ends.

Wrap a towel around your head and leave the oil on for an hour. In the case of very damaged hair, you can also leave the mask on overnight. Then rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water. This will remove the excess oil and maintain the protective moisture film around each hair.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR ENDS

A coconut oil hair mask for the ends can take care of dry, brittle ends, making them smooth again and protecting them from breakage. Apply a small amount of oil as a tip repairer and let it penetrate.

COCONUT OIL AS A CONDITIONING TREATMENT

Coconut oil makes your hair soft and silky and can be used to condition it.

Let about 2 tablespoons of coconut oil melt in your hands and massage it into your clean hair.

You can rinse it out again after a short time. The optimal amount of oil varies from person to person and depends on the length and thickness of your hair.

It takes a little practice, but your efforts will be rewarded with healthy, shiny hair.

QUALITY IS CRUCIAL IN COCONUT OIL

Our tip: Use only high-quality coconut oil. It should be cold-pressed, unrefined, unbleached, and natural. This ensures that all nutrients, vitamins, and minerals are preserved.

GIVE YOUR SENSES A BREAK WITH COCONUT OIL

Your summer vacation may be a distant memory... Simply apply a little coconut oil to your hair and you'll instantly find yourself on the exotic beaches of the South Seas.

Take a small amount of coconut oil, close your eyes and enjoy the fabulous scent of tropical coconut oil before rubbing it into your hair or onto your skin.

A coconut oil massage is also a wonderful escape from everyday life and a delicately scented skin.

THE FRAGRANT BEAUTY ELIXIR

COCONUT OIL

Coconut oil contains natural antioxidants such as vitamin E, which protects the skin and hair from harmful environmental influences.

COCONUT OIL FOR HAIR - NATURAL CARE AND PROTECTION

Open a jar of coconut oil and smell it with your eyes closed: you will immediately associate its scent with the sun, beaches, and palm trees and feel like you are on vacation.

In its natural state, coconut oil has a white consistency, quite firm at room temperature. When it is slightly warm, it becomes transparent and liquid and its fragrance becomes more intense. In this state, it is easy to apply.

Several hundred years ago, Asians discovered the virtues of coconut oil. The beauty secret of coconut oil is lauric acid, which, along with many saturated fatty acids, is the most important ingredient in this fragrant beauty elixir.

The pressed fat of coconuts is a basic component of Asian nutrition and body care, as this oil is very tasty, regulates blood lipids, and has an antibacterial effect.

Coconut oil also wraps the hair in a protective film, making it stronger and softer. The result: healthy, shiny, and silky hair.

What are the best foods to take care of our hair?

July 01, 2022 0 Comments

We hate to see them fall or become dull... But what does our hair really need? Proteins, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, nourish the cells inside the scalp and allow them to synthesize keratin of very good quality. What are the best foods to have beautiful hair?

best foods for hair growth, foods for hair growth, best foods for hair loss, foods for healthy hair, foods for hair regrowth, diet for hair growth, foods for hair growth and thickness, food for hair growth, healthy hair, foods for shiny hair, hair growth, best foods for hair health, best foods for hair regrowth, foods to eat for healthy hair, best foods that promote hair growth, best hair foods, the best foods to eat for healthy hair, hair loss

Having beautiful hair is a wish shared by all. In spite of the many treatments we give it to make it shine, it sometimes remains dull or brittle. In order for them to regain their vigor and beauty, it is important to make a few changes in your diet. Our experts give their advice and tips on the best foods to incorporate into your diet to restore the beauty of your hair.

Hair health is directly linked to what you eat

It's clear that our hair reflects our overall health. Their strength and vigor are associated with a major component: keratin. To be able to secrete this protein, the body must find the 8 amino acids that make it up in the diet. It also needs group B vitamins, iron, zinc...

All these nutrients are involved in the stages of hair production. Some facilitate the formation of keratin, others nourish the bulb, or improve microcirculation and the transport of nutrients to the scalp. If one link in the chain fails, the quality of the hair being produced is directly affected and it becomes thinner, duller, or more fragile.

Is a low-calorie diet bad and does it cause hair loss?

A low-calorie diet can have an impact on hair loss. Weight-loss diets are often poorly balanced and easily lead to nutritional deficiencies," says Dr. Catherine Lacrosnière, a nutritionist. It is not uncommon to have dull, thinner, and sparse hair after a diet. This is often due to an iron deficiency. Iron plays a central role in the transport of oxygen to the scalp.

It nourishes, in a way, the matrix that makes hair. Iron is also involved in the structure of keratin. Beware, some low-calorie diets also leave out lipids, which are essential for the formation of good quality sebum, capable of protecting the hair fiber.

Meat-free, lactose-free, gluten-free... Can the hair suffer from it?

It is difficult to find a good balance in a diet that excludes certain food categories. The risk of deficiencies is very real if we stop eating animal products, meat, or milk derivatives. "A lack of protein or zinc can lead to significant hair loss or slow down hair growth," says Dr. Lacrosnière. Even though zinc is found in nuts and whole grains, it is mainly present in meat and fish, and a vegetarian or vegan diet hardly covers our needs.

We can also lack vitamin B12. "It prevents accelerated aging of the hair and slows the arrival of white hair, explains the nutritionist, playing a role in the manufacture of melanin. As for removing gluten from his diet, it is not likely to create deficiencies, but do not replace foods that contain it with industrial products "without gluten", which remain on the poor nutritional side.

Can we feed our spikes with an adapted diet?

Unfortunately not. "The entire area outside the scalp is made of keratin scales that are neither vascularized nor innervated," says dermatologist Dr. Marie Estelle Roux. Hair is a dead structure. Only the bulb, inside the scalp, is alive. Rebalancing one's diet can therefore have an important impact, but only on the hair in formation. "If you want to act on the lengths, you have to use external treatments. They help keep the keratin scales well bonded," concludes Dr. Roux.

Is it possible to avoid seasonal hair loss?

No. Because nothing prevents hair that has reached the end of its life from falling out. We normally lose about 50 to 100 hairs per day, but the hair cycle changes in the fall. Studies have confirmed this phenomenon," says Dr. Marie Estelle Roux. We don't fully understand the causes, but the change in light conditions probably plays a role. One of the hypotheses put forward is that hair lasts longer in summer. More hair would therefore fall out in the following months when the cycle becomes more regular. The only possible action is to promote the regrowth of good-quality hair.

What foods should I eat to promote hair growth and prevent hair loss?

Sardines to moisturize the hair

Fatty fish provide the omega-3s that our body cannot produce. These are essential components of cell membranes, including the scalp," says Dr. Lacrosnière. And they promote good hair hydration. All fatty fish are sources of omega-3. Smaller fish (sardines or mackerel) are less contaminated than predators such as tuna or salmon.

Eggs to accelerate hair growth

"Their proteins are very well assimilated by the body," says Alexandra Retion, dietician-nutritionist. Eggs also contain vitamins of the B group, including B5, called bepanthene. "It increases hair density and accelerates growth," says Dr. Lacrosnière. It acts in synergy with B8, a deficiency that can accelerate hair loss. Finally, eggs contain other elements that are useful for hair growth, such as sulfur, which is involved in the cementing of keratin proteins.

Kiwis and strawberries, are the best fruits for beautiful hair

They are among the fruits richest in vitamin C, a very important element for improving the absorption of iron in the intestine. To potentiate its assimilation, consume vitamin C during the same meal: with a drizzle of lemon juice, parsley, or a salad containing peppers.

Wheat germ against hair aging

In the form of flakes, to be sprinkled on a salad or yogurt, wheat germ contains 30% protein, B vitamins, and zinc. It also contains vitamin E with antioxidant power: "which limits the accelerated aging of scalp cells and would help prevent the appearance of dandruff," according to Dr. Lacrosnière.

Soy promotes hair growth

"It is the only plant with complete proteins, which contain the entire range of amino acids," explains Alexandra Retion. In particular, it contains lysine, which promotes hair growth. Legumes can also be a source of protein, but they must be optimized with grains.

Red meat, essential for hair nutrition

In addition to its protein content, red meat is one of the best sources of iron, which is essential for the transport of red blood cells and the oxygenation of the scalp. Iron from meat is absorbed by the body to the extent of 20 to 25%.

It is also found in red or white beans, lentils, almonds, or hazelnuts, but the body only absorbs 5 to 10% of this plant-based iron.

Good to know: What happens to hair during menopause? "It is not uncommon for women to lose their hair at the time of perimenopause when their cycle becomes irregular, notes Dr. Marie Estelle Roux, but this is only a period and it stabilizes afterward."

Dietary supplements: a helping hand for beautiful hair

Of course, a balanced diet would provide us with enough nutrients to have beautiful hair... but it's not that simple! A few meals are eaten on the run, prepared dishes that we swallow late at night when we get home from work... we often eat as we can. Food supplements can remedy our deficiencies.
