Home made hydroalcoholic gel : the recipe

Although there's nothing like soap and water to wash our hands, we've all become addicted to alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Top Santé offers a recipe for making your own gel at home. Its ambition is not to replace the gel sold in pharmacies but to allow you to clean your hands between two soap and water washes.
Home made hydroalcoholic gel : the recipe

Stocks of hydroalcoholic gels are low and it is not easy to get supplies. To limit the progression of the coronavirus and avoid the appearance of symptoms, confinement and "barrier" gestures are essential. So, to clean your hands between two washes with soap and water (we haven't yet done anything better to get rid of viruses), we suggest a little recipe for a homemade gel.

No need to have studied chemistry to make this hydroalcoholic gel to take with you: 3 ingredients are enough. Warning: this homemade gel will not replace the real hydroalcoholic gels usually sold in pharmacies and recommended by the ANSM.  But in this period of confinement, this solution is quick to make and can quickly disinfect your hands if necessary, between two washes with soap and water.

THE RIGHT BARRIER GESTURES
The coronavirus does not circulate on its own, it is the human being, the carrier of the virus, who circulates and spreads the virus. This is why it is important to adopt the barrier gestures:

Wash your hands very regularly.
Cough or sneeze into your elbow.
Use disposable tissues.
Greeting without shaking hands, avoiding hugs.
HAND WASHING OR HYDRO-ALCOHOLIC GEL?
Hand washing should be preferred when a drinking water point is available. It must be systematically carried out with soap, preferably liquid, respecting a minimum washing time of thirty seconds. It is necessary to rinse well and dry the hands with clean towels.

The National Agency for the Safety of Medicines (ANSM), recommends the use of hydro-alcoholic solutions and gels only when no water point is available. Alcohol removes most of the viruses and bacteria from the hands, but it does not "wash" them.

How to use it: never use gel on soiled hands or wounds. It is important to respect a friction time with the product of at least 30 seconds until your hands are dry. If the product is not allowed to dry sufficiently, its effectiveness will be reduced.

A RECIPE FOR HOMEMADE HYDROALCOHOLIC GEL
1 small empty 100 ml bottle
30 ml alcohol
60 ml aloe vera gel
Tea tree essential oil and lavender essential oil.
How to make it?
Fill 1/3 of the bottle with alcohol.
Add 16 drops of tea tree EO and 8 drops of lavender EO. Both have natural antibacterial properties and are pleasantly scented.
Complete with aloe vera gel for hand hydration and mix well.
Instead of vodka: if you have dry or sensitive hand skin, you can use hydroalcoholic witch hazel extract.
